John 10:40-42: Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place where John had been baptizing in the early days. Here he stayed and many people came to him. They said, Though John never performed a miraculous sign, all that John said about this man was true." And in that place many believed in Jesus.
In that place......
A place of revelation. A place of comfort. A place of purity. A place of recognition. A place of beginning. A place of power. A place of exposure.
In that place.....
After dealing with religious folk yet again, Jesus returned "to the place where John had been baptizing int he early days". There is something significant to be found in His returning. This was a place of familiarity to Jesus. A place of refuge. This was the place where he himself was baptized. It is the place where the Spirit of the Lord descended upon him like a dove and God publicly owned, anointed and approved of His son. This is the place of the early days. The place where things began.
This was the place to which Jesus returned. And the bible says it was here that he stayed while the people came to him. I have to imagine that Jesus had his moments of weariness in ministry. He was fresh from another encounter with religious leaders who wanted him to tell them if he was really the Christ but then wanted to stone him for having the audacity to say that he was indeed God's son. He couldn't win for losing. Miracle after miracle and yet the were unwilling to accept, unwilling to believe, unwilling to acknowledge that he was the Christ. So Jesus returned to that place.
Sometimes it becomes necessary in each of our lives to return to "that place", be it natural or spiritual. It may not be a physical returning, it may only be a memory or recollection but the realities of ministry, the rejections, the jealousies, the hardships all cause us, at times, to turn back toward that place where each of us first glimpsed our destinies. To turn back to that place where God first seperated us and set us apart for His glory. That place where the anointing became clear.
Perhaps it is in the reflection that the current vision once again becomes clear. Every now and then we have to check out why we are on the road we are on. Why did we begin this thing in the first place? What did God say then and how does that impact where I am and where the vision is now?
Perhaps is it that our spirits at times need a refreshing. Returning, even in our mind's eye, to that place where God first declared our destiny can bring water to desert seasons.
Perhaps it is an invitation to revive the "seek" that we had in our early days. There is beauty in marrying the initial hunger and seek with the growth and maturity of present age....

It is interesting to me that it was in that place where many believed. What made this place so different than any other in terms of ministry? Of course we know that there were places Jesus went and was barely received so the Bible records that not many signs and miracles were performed there. It was a faith issue..a belief issue. And yet, in this particular place..the place of His ministerial beginnings...many believed. Was it the physical place that enabled belief or the spiritual atmosphere that surrounded Jesus in that place that allowed faith and belief to flow so freely? Was it that miracles had been witnessed here before that so many were able to believe now? What was it about this place?

I just stumbled upon this...but it speaks volumes to me...I have found myself searching for that "place"...
A place of refreshing..of reconnecting....I have returned to my place in the kingdom..but there is more to it than that...more to living the life and walking the walk so to speak...higher heights and deeper depths...a realization of the Christ that gave His very life for me...I seek this "place"...I long for this "place"...in my desperation I cry out daily to Him.....
This "place"....I'll be keeping an eye on this post..perhaps I'll find a few bread crumbs that will lead me to that place again...

In alot of ways, when Jesus returned to the space called 'that place' I am brought to imagine a place called home. So many think that home is a physical place. It isn't. It is the place where you are most authentic, real, and comfortable in being your 'true self'. One of the things we have to take from the ministry life of Christ is the fact that He was sensitive to the fact that He wasn't received (accepted) everywhere. And as opposed to kicking himself silly, He moved to the next town, or returned home.
Our struggle is locating that space where we can return to, that zone. Sometimes it is returning to your roots, other times it is specific people who have embraced you, believed in you, sown into you, other times, it is that alone place where solitude is the priority so that it is time for you and God together. Private time...
Above all else, stay humble, repent when necessary, apologize and be at peace. Give God the glory. Walk in praise. Let your life be your greatest sound of worship. Appreciate family. Say please and thank you. Prayer is really the most important thing. Pray.

Blessings to ya Brotherman!
moving on....
The record says that many believed in Jesus in that place. But it further says that they believed in Him because they had come to realize that all that John had said about Him was true. In that place His ministry was validated. In that place His works of signs and sonders was acknowledge and affirmed. In that place His purpose was fulfilled, for many believed on Him....
In that place was where the people found that what they had heard about Jesus was real.
In that place they discovered that Jesus really was who they had been told He was.
In that place they saw that Jesus really could do all that He was reported to be able to do.
And in that place many believed.
Many....not...all.
Many.
It is a place of discovery that God really is God. It is a solidification of His realness. It is a place where it becomes settled in your spirit, that contrary to all else around you, God is real. It is a place of settling in your spirit that what we have read in the word, what we've heard preached, what our Mamas told us and what our Grandmothers lived....it's real. Not just biblically real, but real in our lives at this very moment.
It is a place of encounter. They believed in whom they had seen, observed, watched move and work wonders in their midst.
Yet it is also a place of seperation. For the record is that many believed in Him there, but not all. The record is that when the people found out where Jesus was, they came to Him. They sought Him out. Many came and many believed...but not all.
sidebar: What is it that sometimes gets us all the way to where He is and still find ourselves in a place of disbelief?
What it is about man that we can see the miraculous works of God, we can see the hand of God move, and yet we struggle within ourselves at times to really believe in Him when it concerns our own lives? We trust that He can and that He will for others. But me God?
moving on......
There is a point of seperation in that place. A point of either I'm going to do this or I'm not. Either He's real or He's not. Eitehr I'm going to trust Him or I'm not. Either what they said about Him is right or it's not. Either He can heal or not. Either delivereance is real or not.
It is a dividing line....that place. Even if we look at it from a standpoint of refuge and restoration...even if we see it as a returning to the foundation of when we first believed....

In that place...
I hear "the sound of an abundance of rain". (I Kings 18) If you ever read this particular story in the Bible (one of my absolute favorites) you notice that Elijah heard the sound in a time of drought. No rain had fallen for years. Elijah declared rain in a dry season from a dry place. And not just rain but an abundance of it. Elijah declared what he heard in his spirit long before a cloud was formed. He spoke what was in his spirit long before the atmosphere even gave witness of the fact that rain was coming. There was not the scent of rain nor the sound of rain, yet Elijah spoke of an abundance of rain that was on its way. a Prophetic declaration that served as a warning to some and a drenching to others.
In that place he heard what no one else could hear and declared it into an atmosphere that had no choice but to produce the result. And all from a dry place...during a dry season.
I could work this if I felt up to it. When I feel better it's on. LOL
