An established testimony « Thread Started on Sept 13, 2007, 8:55pm »
Maybe as an additional discussion, we can use this to help with some of the questions in other posts.
Let's talk about a testimony that God has established versus a platform that an individual is using.
To have a testimony is not only to witness but to have evidence that what was in the past has been transformed by the present and is a ready resource for the future. That means that there is a process to transitioning from a situation to a testimony.
David wrote in Psalm 78:5 (speaking of God) that He established a testimony in Jacob. Jacob was a man who was destined to be the father of nations, but he was established by his testimony of human failure and error. Jacob had to walk a path that could leave him only one statement, "If God had not been for me, I would have been consumed by my own ways." Jacob in his earthy nature was manipulative and a trickster. He thought no more of deceiving his family than he did of doing the same to anyone. He had no boundaries on his ambitions to fulfill his own wants.
The Hebrew word for established means that his testimony had been built. It was under construction. His testimony had to rise like watching a skyscraper being erected. The worth of his experience had to be validated and proven.
Ahhhhhh, the testimony is the worth of the experience..........
Let's jump ahead and say this, "A true testimony must be validated by God and cannot be promoted by self." I don't have a testimony until God has established the worth of my experience.
Hmmmm, now it is becoming more clear how many people are confusing their efforts to have a platform regarding various issues instead of waiting on the Lord to establish their testimony.
Above all else, stay humble, repent when necessary, apologize and be at peace. Give God the glory. Walk in praise. Let your life be your greatest sound of worship. Appreciate family. Say please and thank you. Prayer is really the most important thing. Pray.

An established testimony changes where you have been into who you are. Is that fair to say? An established testimony is dependent on God's timing to bring purpose to your experiences. An established testimony is one that has found its place in your destiny.
Bishop George Bloomer said that he was told once not to share his testimony too soon, because it would be his downfall. In his zeal, he did not see it that way and began to talk about how God had delivered him from addiction and how great his destiny would be in touching lives and so on and so on and the next thing he knew, he was spiritually flat on his face once again. We have to be careful that our words do not ensnare us into a place that we do not have the strength for the position.
